CYBER CONTROL SYSTEMS ENGINEER

    Location: Offices in Southampton and Cotswolds (4 days in office required)

    Salary: Up to £65k

    Contract Type: Full time

    We are looking for a highly skilled Control Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team at a leading marine engineering consultancy. In this role, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing cutting-edge systems infrastructure.     Role and Responsibilities

    • Spearhead the design and implementation of robust control systems architecture to meet the unique needs of our marine engineering projects.
    • Evaluate and recommend innovative hardware and software solutions to optimise system performance in the maritime domain.
    • Implement security focused design to safeguard critical maritime systems and data.
    • Ensure systems comply with industry regulations and internal security policies relevant to marine engineering.
    • Collaborate seamlessly with cross-functional teams, including marine engineers and Naval Architects.
    • Stay at the forefront of emerging technologies, ensuring our systems remain scalable, and secure in the ever-evolving marine engineering landscape.

    Skills and Abilities

    • A proven application of Control System Engineering and System Engineering Processes and Practices, including knowledge of Systems Lifecycle.
    • Understanding of networking protocols, configuration, and troubleshooting.
    • A demonstrated experience of design and implement robust and scalable systems architecture
    • Understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices.
    • An ability to work with combinations of technologies, to integrate and verify them in a logical and structured way into a system in order to fully satisfy a customer’s requirement.
    • Experience in autonomous vehicle control or comparable field
    • Understanding of methods such as hardware in the loop testing, simulation of embedded systems, SCADA and PLC programming
    • Capability to participate in trials, troubleshooting and solving issues as they arise.
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and written, with the ability to present and explain technical and complex problems, tailored appropriately for the audience.
    • Thorough documentation skills to record system configuration, processes, and procedures.
    • Demonstrated ability to scope, plan and manage complex projects
    • Ability to contribute to the technical development of junior engineers
    • 5+ years of relevant industry experience
    • Minimum of a Bachelor Degree (BEng, BSc) in a Numerate, Scientific or Engineering subject or Higher/equivalent training and experience.
    • Ability to obtain SC level security clearance.
